NEW YORK, NY – Skyline Commissioner Tracy King announced today the results of the voting for the men's soccer All-Conference Team, and junior Zachary Stern was voted by conference coaches to the second team. Also by a vote from conference coaches, the Maccabees were given the Sportsmanship Award for their display of fair play and civility throughout the 2009 season.
Zach Stern is third on the team in goals this year, with 3 in 12 games played. He is the team leader of assists with 4, putting his point total at 10 (second best on the team) with one game remaining. He's taken a team high 44 shots and has a .333 shot on goal percentage in conference play.
As a team, the Maccabees received the Sportsmanship Award for the second straight season. The Award is based on the sportsmanship of the athletes, coaches, and fans of the receiving school for the season. On the field, Yeshiva committed 35 less fouls compared to their opponents and committed fouls that warranted yellow cards only 3 times.
The men's soccer team will conclude their season on Sunday, November 15th against Berkeley College. The game will be played at Maritime College starting at 1PM, and is officially Senior Day for the four graduating athletes.
