Kahana named Skyline Conference Player of the Week for second time

(New York, NY) - Yeshiva University Men's Volleyball junior David Kahana (Silver Spring, MD/MJBHA) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading Yeshiva to a 2-0 record last week. Kahana - an outside hitter - led the Maccabees to their first-ever Skyline Conference win on Feb. 3 against Polytechnic, and then recorded a rare triple-double during a win over Albertus Magnus two nights later.

Against Polytechnic, Kahana registered a double-double, recording 14 kills and 10 digs as YU topped the Fighting Blue Jays 3-1 for their first Skyline Conference win, ever, and their first NECVA Metro victory since 2002. Two nights later, as Yeshiva dominated Albertus Magnus 3-0, Kahana nailed 16 kills, recorded 10 digs and dished out 11 service aces - all while hitting .591 - as YU won their second straight match, 3-0. For the week, Kahana averaged 4.29 kills, 2.86 digs, and 1.57 service aces for the Maccabees.

During the 2009 season, Kahana leads Yeshiva with 3.73 kills per game and is second in digs with 4.33 per game. He also has registered a team-leading 23 service aces, and is hitting an exceptional .207.

Yeshiva is currently 4-5 overall and 1-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Maccabees host Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
