The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) announced on Tuesday morning that amongst its weekly award winners, Yeshiva men's cross country runner, Oliver Sax, was named the Athlete of the Week for men's cross country, women's cross country runner, Stephanie Greenberg, was named the women's Athlete of the Week and Esther Shollar was named the Rookie of the Week. Awards were earned for the week ending Oct. 13.
The trio of Maccabees each had amazing days on Sunday helping Yeshiva's cross country teams to super results in their respective races at the City College of New York Invitational on Sunday morning, including a first place team finish for the men and a second place team finish for the women.
On the men's side, Sax, a graduate student, zipped through eight kilometers at the vigorous Van Cortlandt Park course in 29:38, en route to finishing in fifth place overall of 107 runners.
In the women's race, Greenberg won the race outright. She finished first of 85 runners, covering the six kilometers at Van Cortlandt Park in 25:29. Meanwhile, first year team member, Shollar, did the course in 29:57 to finish thirty-third overall.
