NEW YORK, N.Y. – Sophomore guard
Simcha Halpert, of the Yeshiva men's basketball team, has been named the inaugural Yeshiva University Male Student-Athlete of the Week.
Halpert earned a spot on the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll, for the fourth time this season, this past Monday. The Los Angeles resident averaged 22 points per game over the course of two contests this week. He led all players in scoring with 29 points, in Yeshiva's come-from-behind Skyline victory in overtime over Merchant Marine, on Thursday. He also blocked three shots during that contest.
This season, Halpert currently leads all players in the Skyline with an average of 23 points per game. He leads the Maccabees with 14 total steals and nine blocked shots.
The Maccabees will host Skyline rival Maritime College, at the Max Stern Athletic Center, on Tuesday evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
