NEW YORK, N.Y. – This week's Yeshiva University Student-Athletes of the Week are senior
Shani Hava, of the women's tennis team, and sophomore
Jordan Soclof, of the men's golf team.
In the final tune-up match for the NCAA Tournament, against Ramapo College on Sunday, Hava won the first doubles position, 8-4, and then came back to dominate at #1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. The Most Outstanding Player of the Skyline Conference Championship match will lead the women's tennis team into the NCAA Division III tournament, the first women's program to compete in the National Championships in school history. The Maccabees' first round opponent and location will be revealed in a press release on the NCAA's website on Monday, May 7, at 12:00 p.m.
Soclof propelled the men's golf team to a 2-0 record this past weekend, to conclude the season. He led all players with a score of 84 to help the Maccabees defeat the Patriots of Valley Forge on Friday morning. The Teaneck resident once again finished first overall, recording an 83, in Yeshiva's victory over Centenary University, 352-446, on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees went 5-1 in dual meets this season.
