Yeshiva University Athletics

Shaina Hourizadeh had an outstanding end to her collegiate volleyball career. She produced double-figures in digs in 12 matches, including a match-high 19 digs at Delaware Valley on September 27. Hourizadeh added 11 digs on her senior night against Old Westbury and recorded a match-high 17 digs in the final match of her collegiate against Mount Saint Mary.

What is your career ambition?	Law
What is your favorite thing about Yeshiva University?	The sense of community and belonging among the student body. Having the opportunity to play my favorite sport competitively without having to sacrifice my religious ideals is also one of the best parts of my experience at Yeshiva University.
What is your favorite thing about being a student-athlete at Yeshiva University?	My teammates! Being on a team allows me not only to play a sport I am passionate about but also to be part of a family. We learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses, we push each other to play harder and ultimately we have each other’s backs no matter what. (Also the Macs gear is pretty dope...)
What Yeshiva University class have you found most beneficial?	International Organizations with Dr. Hill Krishnan because I learn more than just the curriculum. Dr. Krishnan teaches all his students invaluable life lessons about maintaining optimism in the face of hardship and about exploring all areas of interest.
What was your greatest memory as a Yeshiva student-athlete?	Arriving at preseason camp this past summer and working with the team to figure out how to put up the net. Despite the complications that we face, we always pull through together.
Who was the most influential person to you as a child?	My mom. She taught me to persevere when striving to reach my goals.
Growing up what teacher in school do you remember to have the biggest influence on you?	Morah Frummie, Kindergarten teacher who taught me the value of creativity.
What is your favorite food?	Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked Ice Cream
What is your favorite movie?	The Parent Trap and Inside Out
In high school, what clubs were you involved with?	Volleyball Team, Debate Team
If you can have dinner with any celebrity, who would you choose?	Leonardo DiCaprio
What is your favorite hobby (besides the sport you play)?	Playing the piano.
Favorite sport to play (besides your sport)?	Soccer, Swimming
What is your favorite sports team?	New York Giants
What would people you know now find surprising about you when you were younger?	I liked to draw outside the lines.
