Female Student-Athlete of the Month - November 2016

Jamie Baum is off to a great start for the fencing team. She finished 10th overall at the 2016 NIWFA Invitational, as she earned a spot in the semifinals of the epee bracket. The senior earned 14 victories in epee bouts at the Vassar Invitational and picked up four more wins at the Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational.

The experiences and opportunities to interact with motivated and dedicated people.
 
What is your favorite thing
about being a student-athlete at Yeshiva University?
I love working with my coaches and teammates to learn new techniques and bonding together with my teammates. 
What Yeshiva University class have you found most beneficial?                                                                                                                            
Human Resources with Dr. Nissenfeld's because it encompasses an understanding of people, their skills and how to succeed as a team in the global environment.

 

What was your greatest
memory as a Yeshiva student-athlete?

Taking fencing photos in Central Park. Also, advancing to the top ten at the NIWFA Invitational was unbelievable.

Who was the most influential
person to you as a child?
My grandparents 

Growing up what teacher in school do you remember to have the biggest influence on you? 
Orly Wahba, now founder of the non-profit Life Vest Inside.

What is your favorite food?


Grilled Cheese
 

What is your favorite movie?

"Catch Me If You Can" and "Aladdin"

In high school, what clubs were you involved with?


Model Congress, Israel Advocacy, Chessed Commission, Choices Commission, Peer Tutoring, Hebrew Club, and Senior Mentor.

If you can have dinner with any celebrity, who would you choose?

Ryan Gosling, though I'd love to have met Dr. Suess.

What is your favorite hobby
(besides the sport you play)?

Ice Skating and discovering new places in the city. 

Favorite sport to play (besides your sport)?

Basketball and Swimming
What is your favorite sports team?
I loved going to Mets games with my grandpa when I was a kid.
  

What would people you know now find surprising about you when you were younger?
When I was little I used to think red apples were poisonous.
