Yeshiva University Athletics

In her first season playing collegiate softball for Yeshiva University, sophomore pitcher Samantha Cohen pitched 20 complete games. The rookie earned a complete game victory in the season-opening game against Valley Forge on March 2, and earned a complete game victory, striking out five batters, in the final game of the season against York on May 9. Cohen pitched a combined six complete games, spanning three consecutive days, from April 30 through May 2.

What is your career ambition?	I would like to do sports medicine physical therapy, running a co-practice with Sarah Hiller, and with Leah Feder as manager.
What is your favorite thing about Yeshiva University?	For sure the fact that I play on the softball team.
What is your favorite thing about being a student-athlete at Yeshiva University?	I love being part of a team and something larger than just going to class and having an ordinary social life. I like doing something I am incredibly passionate about with other people who share the same passion.
What Yeshiva University class have you found most beneficial?	Biology classes.
What was your greatest memory as a Yeshiva student-athlete?	Most amazing memory as a pitcher is striking out batters, especially on my change-up. That is by far the most amazing feeling in the world. Best memory as a team overall is watching your entire team work together in sync and play their hearts out and see the results for the effort you put in. Example: Walk-off single by Ellie Chase to win us our last game of the season.
Who was the most influential person to you as a child?	My Mom, Derek Jeter, and Lou Gehrig.
Growing up what teacher in school do you remember to have the biggest influence on you?	My art teacher, who was my original softball coach as well. In addition, my English teacher from high school who demanded the best you had and pushed me to be my absolute best in all aspects.
What is your favorite food?	Raw cookie-dough
What is your favorite movie?	The Ultimate Gift
In high school, what clubs were you involved with?	National Honor Society and Basketball.
If you can have dinner with any celebrity, who would you choose?	Taylor Swift
What is your favorite hobby (besides the sport you play)?	Being an actress in music videos. @sammyktherapper
Favorite sport to play (besides your sport)?	Basketball
What is your favorite sports team(s)?	New York Yankees and Atlanta Falcons.
What would people you know now find surprising about you when you were younger?	I went to a Gemara camp called Drisha.
