Steve Schucker has served as head coach of the softball team at Yeshiva University since its inception in 2013, first as a club sport, before elevating into varsity in 2014.

In Yeshiva softball’s young history, Schucker has coached the team into a highly respectable program. In Yeshiva’s first year as a varsity program, it advanced into the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) championship round, and four players were named to the HVIAC All-Conference team, while he was named the HVIAC Coach of the Year.
In the 2016 season, Yeshiva softball set a new program record with seven wins. During the year, the Maccabees earned Skyline wins over Sarah Lawrence College and St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn.Â

Prior to coaching at Yeshiva, Schucker was a standout baseball player at Manhattanville College from 1983 to 1985. He was team captain for two seasons and posted a .391 career batting average, which is the ninth all-time highest career batting average in the program’s history. He also holds other highly impressive records at the College, including a .522 on base percentage, 13 career triples, 14 home runs and 138 runs scored.

Schucker, a Nanuet, N.Y. native has also represented the United States in the Maccabi games numerous times and helped the team to the gold medal in 2005 and 2009, silver medal in 1993 and bronze medal in 1997.
