John P. Wilhelm joined YU’s men's fencing team in 2009 as an assistant foil coach and brings valuable experience to the team with more than 25 years of experience in fencing. He began coaching at SUNY Stony Brook in 1988, where he coached the fencing club, and has since coached for the NYC Parks fencing program, NYC Public Schools, DRS Yeshiva Boys HS, Hewlett HS, The Kew-Forest School, as well as numerous fencing clubs and summer camps.
Wilhelm graduated from SUNY Stony Brook in 1988 with a major in mathematics and a minor in business management. After graduation he worked as a software developer and senior programmer for 13 years. He also has completed SUNY Stony Brook’s Coaching Certification Program and holds USFA certification as a foil fencing coach and a wheelchair fencing coach, as well as USFCA certification in epée, foil, and sabre.
