Yeshiva University announced Dinu Dan as its head men's and women's volleyball coach in June of 2016.

The Bloomfield resident comes to Yeshiva University from Centenary College, where he served as the head coach of the women's volleyball team for nine years. He planned season practices and match schedules, while coordinating and supervising assistant coaches and work-study students.

At the Division I level, he served as the head coach for Long Island University's women's volleyball program from 2002 to 2003. While at LIU, he successfully recruited local, national, and international prospective student-athletes. He led the Blackbirds to their first winning season in nine years, as well as back-to-back appearances in the Northeast Conference tournament. Under his guidance, LIU received the AVCA Academic Team award.

A few years earlier, he worked for the Rutgers University Newark men's volleyball team as an assistant coach.

In addition to Division I, Dan also has experience as Division II, spending five seasons as the head coach of the Pace University women's volleyball team, from 1996 to 2000. During his time at Pace, he administrated all phases of the nationally recognized program. He led the Setters to four consecutive Northeast-10 Conference championships. In 1998 and 2000, he propelled the Setters to Elite 8 appearances in the NCAA tournament. Dan also earned the Head Coach of the Year award. Under his leadership, the Pace women's volleyball squad received the AVCA Team Academic award.

In 2016, Dan and his team from the 2000 season were honored with the Pace Athletics "Team of Distinction" Hall of Fame award due to the Setters' incredible run in both the NE-10 championships and the NCAA tournament that season.

Locally, Dan served as the head coach of the Hunter College men's volleyball team during the 1997 season.

Dan also had success as a player. He played professionally in Romania from 1979 to 1990.

The new Yeshiva head coach earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation Administrative from Kean University, where he graduated with Cum Laude honors, in 1996. He received a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Public Administration from Centenary College in 2014.

Dan currently resides in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
