Danielle Carr was promoted to head coach of the Yeshiva University women's tennis program in August of 2018. She spent the three previous three seasons as the team's assistant coach.
The women's tennis program made the Skyline Conference Championships in each of the three seasons under Carr's tenure as assistant coach. In 2017-18, Yeshiva captured its first Skyline Conference title since 1999 and became the first women's program in school history to compete in the NCAA Postseason Tournament.
Carr coached five Skyline All-Conference first team student-athletes, four All-Skyline second team honorees, a Skyline Player of the Year, one Skyline Rookie of the Year, a CoSIDA Academic All-America recipient, and a Skyline Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The women's tennis program has earned ITA All-Academic Team honors in each of her seven seasons coaching at Yeshiva.
In her second season as head coach, in 2019, the women's tennis program qualified for the Skyline Conference Championships. Seniors Shana Adler and Bailey Frohlich earned spots on the Skyline All-Conference second team.
In the spring of 2021, Alexandra Huberfeld was selected to the Skyline All-Conference first team, while rookie Elisheva Gofman landed on the All-Skyline second team.
In the fall of 2021, Esther Ackerman earned a spot on the All-Skyline first team.
Carr led the Maccabees to a berth in the Skyline Conference Championships in 2022. Shira Adler earned a spot on the All-Skyline second team.
The Mount Vernon native is a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) certified tennis instructor, as well as a USTA Sectional certified umpire. Prior to coaching at YU, Carr was a tournament team coach with the New York Junior Tennis League, the assistant tennis director at the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation, and had junior varsity tennis coaching stints at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., School of the Holy Child in Rye, N.Y., and The Fieldston School in Riverdale N.Y. She also coached the New Rochelle High School junior girls varsity team.
Carr played Division I tennis at Siena College, where she graduated in 2006 with her Bachelor of Arts in English. She still competes in tennis today, playing USTA sanctioned tournaments and in the USTA adult leagues at the women's 4.0 and mixed doubles 8.0 and 9.0 levels, respectively.
The Siena alumna earned her Master of Arts in English from the City College of New York in 2016, where she currently serves as an adjunct lecturer in the Department of English.
