Jon Rubinstein

Jon Rubinstein is entering his 10th season as head men's tennis coach at Yeshiva University, inheriting a program that made school history during the spring 2014 when it became the first Yeshiva University athletics program to earn an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Championships.

In nine seasons of coaching the program, Rubinstein has led the Maccabees to five consecutive Skyline Conference Championships and appearances in the NCAA Tournament from 2015 through 2019. Yeshiva earned eight trips to the Skyline Championship match during his tenure  He was voted the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year three times. Yeshiva won its first NCAA Postseason match in school history in 2015 and added wins in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and 2018.

Also under Rubinstein's leadership, 17 student-athletes have been named to the Skyline All-Conference Team from 2015-2023. Dmitri Lebedyev was honored as the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015 and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team in 2016. Ozery was named the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2018. Tomer Mendler was selected as the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022. The men's tennis program has earned ITA All-Academic Team honors in each of his nine seasons at the helm.  

In May of 2016, Rubinstein was voted the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year. That same year, David Papis Elon was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season, while Mikey Ozery earned Skyline Rookie of the Year honors. 

In May of 2017, Rubinstein was once again voted the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year. Papis Elon earned his third straight Skyline Conference Player of the Year honor, all under Rubinstein's tutorage. Lior Brik earned Skyline Rookie of the Year honors, marking the second year in a row that a YU men's tennis player was voted Rookie of the Year. 

In May of 2022, Rubinstein was bestowed Skyline Co-Coach of the Year accolades as he led the Maccabees to their sixth appearance in the conference championship match in eight completed seasons during his tenure. 

Rubinstein has a wealth of successful tennis experience prior to his time at Yeshiva. He served as a 13-year assistant coach at nationally prominent Drew University starting in the year 2000. While there, he helped the Rangers to 13 consecutive conference championships on the men's side and three conference championships on the women's side.

Prior to his successful run at Drew, Rubinstein served as assistant coach of the men's and women's tennis teams at the University of Delaware in 1997. He was a member of the men's team at the University of Delaware in 1996. 
 
Rubinstein's other coaching experience includes the varsity boys tennis coach at Solomon Schechter (Golda Och) of West Orange from 2001-02, girls junior varsity coach at Ramapo High School, and boys junior varsity tennis coach at Old Tappan High School in 1997.

A native of Great Neck, N.Y. and Wyckoff, N.J., Rubinstein's playing experience includes the Pan Am Maccabi Games in Santiago, Chile in 2003 where he was a bronze medalist in mixed doubles, a national finalist in the USTA men's 40 & over team in 2013, a national champion in the USTA men’s 18 & over 4.5 team in 2016, and a USTA national 40 & over 8.0 mixed doubles finalist in 2019.
