(New York, NY) - Senior Aviva Miller (Teaneck, NJ/Frisch) registered nine digs and two service aces, and senior Adira Katlowitz (Brooklyn, NY/Yeshiva Flatbush) added five service aces, but the Yeshiva University Women's Volleyball team fell to 0-2 with a 3-0 loss to Cooper Union on Thursday night at Hunter College.
After a thrilling opening set that saw Cooper Union survive for a 27-25 win, Yeshiva dropped the final two games, 25-20 and 25-17 to lose their second match in as many nights.
Miller was outstanding, increasing her team-leading dig total to 17 for the 2008 season, while Katlowitz added four digs to her outstanding night at the service line. More impressive was Yeshiva's team defensive effort as the Maccabees allowed only one service ace after allowing John Jay College 31 aces during Wednesday's season-opener.
Aside from Miller and Katlowitz, senior Yael Mordfin (Silver Spring, MD/Berman) also had a terrific match, assisting on four out of six Yeshiva kills.
The Maccabees return to action on Sunday, Sept. 7 when they host the College of Saint Elizabeth and Medgar Evers College for a 1:00 p.m. tri-match. The matches will be the first-ever Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) matches for YU.
