Women’s Soccer Nets First Win Behind Three Scores from Atara Kanarfogel

NEW YORK, NY – The Women's Soccer team collected their first win of the season Sunday evening with a 4-0 shutout over Berkeley College.  Atara Kanarfogel (Teaneck, NJ/Bruriah) scored three times and assisted on another, while Odelia Rosenberg (Paramus, NJ/Ma'ayanot Yeshiva) stopped all 4 shots she saw.  The win brings Yeshiva to 1-4 on the season.

Atara opened the scoring 15 minutes into play, on a breakaway goal.  She scored again six minutes later, after Edie Koslowe (East Brunswick, NJ/Yeshiva Flatbush) floated a perfect pass over the defense from midfield.  Less than one minute later, Meira Lerner (Sharon, MA/Maimonides) scored in traffic, after a great pass from Kanarfogel.  The ladies went into the half with the 3-0 lead, and never looked back.

The teams traded possessions much of the second half, and neither team put many shots on goal.  However, Kanarfogel netted her hat trick in the 71st minute to give Yeshiva the 4-0 advantage which proved to be the final score.  Janna Login (Brooklyn, NY/Maimonides) was credited with the assist on the play.

The Maccabees will be on the field again Wednesday, September 18th to take on Old Westbury.  The home game at Tibbetts Brook Park will begin at 8:00PM.
