NEW YORK, NY - The Yeshiva women's soccer team hosted the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent in an 8PM soccer matchup at Tibbetts Brook Park Tuesday evening. Despite outscoring the Dolphins 2-1 in the second half, the Maccabees fell in the Skyline game 4-2.
To start the game, neither team was able to get anything going offensively, and it took 32 minutes until the first goal was scored by the Dolphins. After that first goal, MSV scored two more within 2 minutes to open the game up 3-0. The score would remain the same for the rest of the half.
In the second, Yeshiva's
Atara Kanarfogel netted her 4th goal of the season, after
Rochelle Friedman sent a perfect free-kick over the defense for her second assist in 2010. Unfortunately, the Dolphins brought their lead back up to three with a score 10 minutes later, but Yeshiva was persistent to score again and they did just that. In the 74th minute,
Hannah Esan scored her first career goal on a ball that was unable to be cleared by the MSV defense. After a save left the ball on the ground in front of the goal, Esan ran in and put it right between the goalkeeper's legs for the score.
Julia Shrier had a great game in goal for Yeshiva, making 3 saves and many other plays on the ball that stopped the MSV attack. The Dolphins were whistled offside 14 times.
Up next for the Maccabees will be St. Joseph's on Thursday night at 8PM. The home game is going to be played at Silver Lake Park, in West Harrison, NY.
