Yeshiva Adds Another HVWAC Victory to Move into 2nd Place

Sarit Zukowsky had 8 kills and 13 digs in her first game as an outside hitter
NEW YORK, NY – The women's volleyball team defeated HVWAC opponent New Rochelle Wednesday night 3-2 to move into second place in the conference behind Medgar Evers. The Macs are 4-9 (2-1 HVWAC) on the season.

It took Yeshiva the maximum 5 games to defeat New Rochelle, but the Maccabees had to came back after dropping the first set 16-25. Game scores were 16-25, 25-23, 26-24, 22-25, 15-11.

Rena Rotter led the Maccabees with 9 points on 8 kills and a blocked shot. She also recorded 2 assists and 7 digs. Sarit Zukowsky moved from libero to outside hitter and had 8 kills and a team-high 13 digs. Dena Shayne also had 8 points for Yeshiva, on 5 kills and 3 service aces. Moriah Green also had 3 aces, and recorded a team-high 22 assists.

As they stand right now, Yeshiva is in second place in the HVWAC behind Medgar Evers (3-1 HVWAC). If both teams were to win their remaining HVWAC games, Yeshiva would hold the tie-breaker since they defeated the Cougars earlier in the year.

The first step towards that first place finish will be tonight against Sarah Lawrence on the road. The Macs will travel to Bronxville for an 8PM HVWAC game.
