Box Score 2 NEW YORK - The Yeshiva University women's soccer team, semifinalists in the 2012 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) tournament, rounded out its 2012 schedule with a pair of contests against strong competition. Thursday night (Nov. 15), the Maccabees took on City University of New York Athletic Conference title holder (and NCAA Championships participant) City College of New York at Silver Lake Park in W. Harrison, N.Y., before wrapping up the season with a road contest against HVWAC champion, St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, at Aviator Field.
Following Thursday night's match against the Beavers, interim head coach Christine Serdjenian Yearwood and the Macs paid homage to six student-athletes, who were playing in their final college soccer home match of their careers:
Daniela Goldstein (Houston, Texas),
Maya Fishbein (Sacramento, Calif.),
Hannah Esan (Rochester, N.Y.),
Meira Lerner (Sharon, Mass.),
Erica Hasten (Chicago, Ill.) and
Sarah Elbaz (Paris, France).
In Sunday's contest in Brooklyn, sophomore
Natasha Bassalian (London, England) ended the Bears' shutout streak of over 200 minutes with an 86th-minute tally for Yeshiva. She received a feed from Lerner towards the right-hand edge of the penalty area, and her second goal of the campaign deflected off the St. Joseph's keeper and into the net.
