YONKERS, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's soccer team earned another win on Friday afternoon beating York College 6-0 in a contest played at Tibbets Brook Park to up its current winning streak to two games.
The win improves the Maccabees to 2-10-0 this season. York College is now 2-13-0.
Yeshiva scored three goals in the first half and another three in the second half. In the first half,
Merav Saden Barach netted all goals. She scored her first of three at the 31:52 mark, before scoring again at 34:18. She completed the hat-trick thirty-five seconds later at 34:53 to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Maccabees.
Yeshiva scored three more goals in the second half.
Natasha Bassalian netted the game's fourth goal at 58:55 before
Shlomit Braun scored at 62:22. Then
Jennifer Shamsian rounded out the Yeshiva scoring with a goal at 89:27.
The Maccabees held a 30-3 advantage on shots, including 21-1 in shots on net. Braun recorded a game-high nine shots in the contest, while Saden Barach took eight.
Yeshiva had seven assists on the six goals as Bassalian had three assists,
Esther Eliacheff had two.
Michelle Shamsian and
Amy Goodman had one assist each in the win.
Annie Jaffe earned Yeshiva's first shutout of the season after making one save behind the Maccabees' defense.
Yeshiva will now turn its attention forward to the semifinal round of the 2014 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship at Albany College of Pharmacy on Sunday at 11 a.m.
