Women's Soccer Closes Out 2014 With a 4-0 Win over Medgar Evers College

BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's soccer team closed out its 2014 season with a stellar win on Thursday afternoon over Medgar Evers College in a match played at Old Boys High School.
 
With the win, Yeshiva closes out 2014 with a 3-11 overall record and winners of three of its final four games of the season. Over the latter four games, the Maccabees outscored their opponents a combined 14-4, included two shutouts.
 
After the game, Yeshiva celebrated its Senior Day where the team wished a congratulatory farewell to Shlomit Braun, Esther Eliacheff, Belle Ginsburg, Amy Goodman, Elana Kook, Davida Rosenthal and Merav Saden Barach.
 
During the ninety minutes of play, the Maccabees scored three goals in the first half and another in the second en route to the victory. In the first half, Yeshiva got the scoring started 5:20 into the game on a strike by Saden Barach with assists from Braun and Eliacheff. Then at 26:18 Braun netted a goal off a Kook assist to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Maccabees. Yeshiva scored once more in the first stanza when Saden Barach scored her second goal of the game by beating the Medgar Evers goalie after a through ball by Jennifer Shamsian.
 
In the second half, Rita Gordon scored the first goal of her NCAA career with a strike at 75:31.
 
The Maccabees held a 16-6 advantage on shots, including a 8-2 edge in shots on the net.
 
Annie Jaffe earned her second shutout of the season while making two saves in the win.
