Women's Basketball Falls to Mount Saint Mary's College

NEW YORK, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University women's basketball team was defeated by Mount Saint Mary's College (MSMC) 75-47 at the ARC Arena at Baruch College on Wednesday evening.
 
The loss leaves the Maccabees at 2-10 overall, while MSMC is now 6-9 on the season.
 
Yeshiva was led by Stephanie Greenberg with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Julia Owen had 18 points and six rebounds. Simee Rosner added seven rebounds and five blocked shots, while newcomer Tess Blaustein had six rebounds and three blocked shots for the Maccabees.
 
MSMC was led by Marisa Delzio and Lauren Romao with 13 points each. Delzio added six steals for the visiting Blue Knights.
 
The game was nearly scoreless for the first three minutes. It was the Maccabees who scored early to take the initial lead. A pair of three point field goals by Owen put Yeshiva ahead 6-0. The Maccabees kept MSMC scoreless for the five plus minutes as the Blue Knights finally got on the board with a free throw with 14:47 to go.
 
Yeshiva extended its lead to 11 in the first half and the Maccabees were up 15-4 with 12:58 to go.
 
But MSMC quickly cut into the Yeshiva lead and took control in the latter stages of the first half. Down 23-22, MSMC closed out the first half outscoring Yeshiva 21-5 over the final six minutes to go into halftime ahead 43-28.
 
MSMC opened the second half on a 17-0 run to take a 60-28 lead with 13:13 to go en route to the win.


The Blue Knights held a 22-2 advantage on points off turnovers and 30-14 on points in the paint. The Maccabees outscored MSMC 14-6 on fast break points.
 
Yeshiva is back in action on Sunday for a game at Farmingdale State at 1 p.m.
