Women’s Soccer : Blumen scores in loss at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, NY --- The Yeshiva women's soccer team lost 5-1 at the Maritime Academy on Thursday night in Throggs Neck, New York.
 
Sophomore Sophia Blumen scored off a breakaway in the 37th minute for her first career goal. It was the first goal of the season for the Maccabees. Senior goalkeeper Annie Jaffe finished with 18 saves.
 
Maritime was led by sophomore Gayle Woods (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia), who recorded three goals and one assist on the night for a seven-point total. Her seven-point output was the second highest of the season, and tied the second highest of her career. Junior Kathleen Burns (Islip, N.Y./Islip) picked up her sixth goal of the season, while sophomore Julianna Avitto (Lindenhurst, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) recorded her fifth of the season.
 
The Privateers improve to 6-8 and 3-4 in the Skyline Conference while the Maccabees drop to 0-6 and 0-4 in league play.
 
Yeshiva is back on the field on Sunday when they host the College at Old Westbury at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn, New York. Game time is 9:30 a.m.
