ALBANY, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's basketball team lost at Sage College 64-47 in a Skyline Conference match-up on Sunday afternoon.
Yeshiva now sits at 11-10 overall this season and 8-7 in conference play. Sage improve to 19-4 overall and 13-3 in the conference as the Gators remain on the inside track to the Skyline Conference regular season championship.
The Maccabees were led by
Benjy Ritholtz with 16 points and seven rebounds, while
Yisrael Feld came off the bench and had 15 points and five rebounds.
Sage was led by Andre Robinson with 13 points off the bench.
The Maccabees led briefly in the contest and were up 6-4, before Sage scampered off a 15-2 run to take a 19-8 lead with 5:14 to go in the first half. The Gators extended the lead to as much as 14 moments later and Sage led 26-12 with just under three minutes to go before halftime. Yeshiva closed out the half on a 9-0 run to get back to within single digits, and the score was 26-21 Sage at halftime.
Early in the second half, the Maccabees pulled to within four points of the lead. Yeshiva was down 32-28 with 13:42 to go before Sage went on another run, this one a 14-0 spurt to pull ahead 46-28 with 9:27 to play. The Gators maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the second half and led by a much as twenty-three near the end of the game.
Sage held a 16-3 advantage on points off turnovers, despite committing five more turnovers than the Maccabees. Yeshiva committed 11 turnovers, compared to 16 for Sage. The Gators held a 47-32 advantage on rebounds, including 13-9 on the offensive end, giving Sage a 14-7 advantage on second chance points.
Yeshiva returns to action on Tuesday for a home game against Sarah Lawrence College at 8 p.m.
