OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.— The Yeshiva University men's basketball team lost 68-48 at the College at Old Westbury on Saturday evening.
With the loss, the Maccabees fall to 11-7 overall this season and 8-5 in the Skyline Conference. Meanwhile, Old Westbury is now 8-12 overall and 8-5 in Skyline Conference games this season.
Yeshiva was led by
Yisrael Feld with 11 first half points off the bench. He was the lone Maccabee to score in double figures as tonight's 48 points was the lowest point total of the year for Yeshiva.
Eytan Potash was Yeshiva's second leading scorer with nine points on 4-for-6 shooting. As a unit, Yeshiva connected on a season low 35.4 percent (17-for-48) from the floor.
Benjamin Oirech grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go along with eight points.
Old Westbury was led by Floyd Leroy and Reynaldo Walters with 18 points each.
Yeshiva led 2-0, 4-2 and 6-4 early in the game, before Old Westbury, behind a 7-0 run, took an 11-6 lead with 10:54 to go, and the host Panthers never trailed again.
Old Westbury led by as much as 10 late in the first half and was up 28-18 with twenty-seven second left before halftime and led by eight at the break with the score 28-20.
Old Westbury opened the second half on a quick 4-0 spurt to take another double-digit lead. Yeshiva got back to within nine moments later, but with Old Westbury up 36-27, the Panthers used a 6-0 run to take a 42-27 lead and they led by double figures the rest of the game.
The Panthers outscored the Maccabees 22-4 on points off turnovers, and Old Westbury also held a 10-4 edge on second chance points, 24-14 on points in the paint and 25-6 on fast break points.
Yeshiva is back in action on Monday for a game at home against Montclair State University at 8 p.m.
