Softball Loses Both Games of Doubleheader to Baruch College

RANDALLS ISLAND, N.Y.— The Yeshiva softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Baruch College on Sunday afternoon, losing the first game 22-1 and the second game 13-9.
 
In the first game, Baruch scored five runs in the bottom of the first, nine in the bottom of the second and eight more in the bottom of the third to lead 22-0 after three innings. Yeshiva's run came in the top of the fifth when Leah Ben-Zvi scored stole third and came in to score on a throwing miscue by the Baruch catcher.
 
The Maccabees got three hits in the first contest. Hannah Dubin led the way by going 2-for-2, while Rachel Siegel went 1-for-2.
 
In the second game, Yeshiva scored six times in the top of the first. Baruch pitching combined for six walks and nine wild pitches, allowing the Maccabees to earn their six runs without recording a hit in the first inning.
 
The host Bearcats chipped away at the six run lead by scoring two in the bottom of the first, followed by a run in the bottom of the second, a run in the bottom of the fourth, followed by seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to lead 13-6 going into the last inning.
 
In the top of the seventh, Yeshiva edged closer and got the deficit to four runs. An infield single by Lieba Swartz-Brownstein scored Erin Potasnick. Then a bases clearing double by Rebecca Kleiner brought in Swartz-Brownstein and Eliana Levy.
