Sarah Lawrence College Rallies Past Men's Soccer in Skyline Finale

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team dropped its Skyline Conference Finale to Sarah Lawrence College, 5-2, at Tibbetts Brook Park on Wednesday evening. Yeshiva now falls to 5-9 overall, and finishes conference play with a record of 1-8.

The Gryphons (6-11, 2-7 Skyline) scored four unanswered goals in the second half to earn the conference win.

Sarah Lawrence College grabbed an early 1-0 advantage, less than three minutes into the contest. The Maccabees answered in the 15th minute as junior midfielder Eli Richards drilled a shot into the back of the cage, from 25-yards out, to tie the match, 1-1. In the 38th minute, junior forward Albert Dichy received a cross inside the box from freshman forward Alberto Benhamu, and tipped the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net, to give YU a 2-1 lead. That would be the score at the end of the first half.

The Gryphons took complete control in the second half, scoring four goals in a span of 18 minutes, starting in the 64th minute, to give Sarah Lawrence College a commanding 5-2 lead. That would be the final score.

For the evening, Yeshiva had a slight edge in shots, 17-16, and a narrow advantage in corner kicks, 3-2.

Sophomore goalkeeper Max Goldstein made five saves for the Maccabees.

Yeshiva will be back in action on Sunday, for a non-conference match against the City College of New York, at Votee Park beginning at 8:00 p.m.
