BRONX, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 74-38, at the Rose Hill Center on Tuesday evening.
The Maccabees (2-9, 1-6 Skyline) got off to a strong start in the game, holding the Mariners (5-2, 3-1 Skyline) scoreless for the first 4:41 of the contest. Sophomore guard

Nicole Bick, who laid it up and in, to give YU an early 6-0 advantage. USMMA did not score a field goal during the first 5:52 of the contest. However, the Mariners scored the last seven points of the stanza, to take a 7-6 advantage heading into the second quarter.
Betesh nailed a jump shot off a feed from Bick, to pull Yeshiva to within three, at 11-8. Later in the period, senior forward
Michal Alge laid the ball up and in, to narrow Merchant Marine's lead to 15-12, with 6:26 left in the half. The visiting team shifted momentum into its favor by scoring nine unanswered points, to take a commanding 24-12 lead, with 3:48 remaining. Yeshiva trailed at the half, 32-18.
USMMA took complete control in the third quarter, outscoring Yeshiva, 24-6, during the 10 minute period. Yeshiva could not sustain a run of any kind in the fourth quarter, as the Mariners went on to earn the Skyline win, by a score of 74-38.
For the evening, Bick had a team-high 12 points, while grabbing three rebounds, distributing an assist, and forcing a steal. Alge led all players with 16 boards, while scoring seven points, dishing out two assists, and contributing on defense with two steals. Lindsay Brandwein had five rebounds to go along with her two points and one dime.

Chavi Charlap produced four points and had two rebounds, while freshman guard

Yeshiva will host Skyline rival St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Thursday, at the Nat Holman Gymnasium, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
