BRONX, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's golf team earned a victory over Old Westbury, 334-356, at the Pelham Bay Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. The Maccabees now start the season, 2-0.
"It's a huge accomplishment to start the season 2-0," Yeshiva head coach
Jason Eisenman said. "However, no one is getting ahead of themselves. This team has high expectations and will look to get better."
Leading the way for the Maccabees was senior
Dan Schub and new comer
Alex Malech, who each shot an 82 to finish in a tie for second overall. Sophomore
Solomon Shulman and classmate
Jordan Soclof each recorded an 85, while
Izak Held shot an 86. In exhibition, junior
Ben Kahan scored an 85, while senior
Jacob Saks finished with an 89.
Yeshiva will return to the Pelham Bay Golf Course on Friday, for a match against Mount Saint Mary College, beginning at 10:40 a.m. The Maccabees will be there again on Sunday for a 12:00 p.m. match against Skyline rival, Purchase College.
"Two big matchups coming up this weekend," Eisenman said. "This should be a great test for this group."
