NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University women's soccer team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to Mount Saint Mary College, 11-1, at Kaplan Field on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees now fall to a 1-6 record (0-5 Skyline), while the Knights excel to 4-2-1 (1-0-0 Skyline).
The Knights would strike first, as Destiny Ribadeneyra dribbled around the defense and shot from the top of the box to score the first goal of the match in the 15th minute. That lead would not be squandered, as Mount Saint Mary would score again in the 22st, 25th, and 31st minutes of the half.
The Maccabees' lone goal would come from freshman forward Gabrielle Aboudi, in the 26th minute, a shot from the left wing that connected with the far post. That 4-1 score would remain until the end of the half.
In the second half, the Knights continued where they left off, adding seven more goals.
In goal, freshman goalkeeper Rivka Lindenblatt started the game and made seven saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Gabriella Chutter stopped five shots in relief.
The Maccabees will be back in action after the break, when they will face Farmingdale State College in a Skyline Conference match, at Rutgers Alumni Field, on October 15th. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
