POULTNEY, Vt. – The Yeshiva University women's soccer team suffered a setback on Sunday afternoon, falling to Green Mountain College by a score of 4-2, at Eagles Game Field. The Maccabees now drop to 1-1, while the Eagles remain undefeated at 2-0.
Yeshiva could not overcome Green Mountain's strong start, as Maya Golowasch scored all four Eagles' goals in the first 64:23 of the contest to give the home team a commanding lead.
The Maccabees would not go down without a fight. In the 69
th minute, freshman midfielder
Danielle Blicker fed the ball to classmate
Gabrielle Aboudi, who launched it into the back of the net to put Yeshiva on the board. Just over five minutes later, it would be Blicker who would cash in, as she received the pass from senior forward
Batsheva Kivelevitz and poked the ball past the goalkeeper to cut Green Mountain's lead in half.
YU had plenty of scoring opportunities in the last 15 minutes of the match, but Jessica Casey made two big saves down the stretch to prevent Yeshiva from pulling closer. Green Mountain College went on to win its second match of the season, 4-2.
For the afternoon, the Eagles had the edge in shots, 25-13. Each team had two corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper
