TEANECK, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's soccer team suffered a setback on Sunday evening, falling to Skyline rival Mount Saint Mary College by a score of 6-0, at Votee Park. The Knights remain undefeated in the conference at 4-0-1 (8-4-1 overall), while the Maccabees drop to 3-2 in Skyline play (5-4 overall).
The Knights scored two goals in the opening half, and then added four more in the second, on their way to earning a key conference victory.
Mount Saint Mary had balanced scoring, as six players found the back of the net. Connor Lynch scored the game-winning goal in the 28
th minute. Bereket Watts extended Mount Saint Mary's lead to two in the 42
nd minute.
In the second stanza, Fred Stark, Matthew Wyant, Matthew Iaria, and Zidan Douglas added tallies for the visiting team. Christopher Maggi, Bobby Caronia, and Anthony Gugliemo each registered an assist.
For the evening, the Knights had the edge in shots, 17-8, and took three out of the four corner kicks. For the Maccabees, freshman goalkeeper
Edgar Schottland made six saves.
Yeshiva will hit the road to battle Farmingdale State, in a key Skyline Conference contest, on Wednesday afternoon. The Skyline showdown will begin at 4:00 p.m.
