OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team suffered a Skyline Conference loss to the College at Old Westbury, 87-33, at the Clark Athletic Center on Tuesday evening. The Maccabees fall to 2-12 in Skyline play (4-16 overall), while the Panthers advance to 11-3 in conference contests (17-3 overall).
After the Panthers jumped out to an early 12-2 lead, the Maccabees went on a 8-2, capped off by a layup by junior guard
Nicole Bick off a fast break, to pull YU to within four. Old Westbury responded by scoring nine unanswered points to take a commanding 23-10 advantage, in the early stages of the second quarter. Yeshiva could not sustain a consistent run to get back into the game and Old Westbury went on to earn the conference win.
For the game, senior forward
Michal Alge just missed a double-double with eight points and 11 rebounds. The Boston resident also dished out a team-high five assists, forced four steals, and blocked one shot. Bick led the Maccabees in scoring with 10 points, while junior guard
Penny Rabin scored five points with two boards.
Freshman forward
Lindsay Brandwein produced four points, while freshman guard
Leah Shulman scored three points and added four caroms. Sophomore guard
Laura Betesh scored two points, while freshman forward
Kaley Baker successfully converted a free throw. Freshman guard
Chana Boltax and classmate
Chana Weinberg each produced two boards, with the former distributing an assist, while freshman guard
Adina Rosenberg had a rebound of her own.
For Old Westbury, Monique Joseph scored 21 points, while grabbing seven rebounds, dishing out five assists, and forcing just as many steals. Charlotte Renker produced a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Yeshiva will be back in action on Thursday, for a Skyline Conference game at St. Joseph's Long Island, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
