Teigman's Career-High Scoring Not Enough for Women's Basketball Against Mount Saint Mary College

NEW YORK – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team got off to a strong start but couldn't sustain it, as the Maccabees fell to the Knights of Mount Saint Mary by a score of 101-54, at the ARC Arena on Tuesday evening. YU drops to 0-2 in the conference (1-3 overall), while MSMC advances to 2-0 in league play (2-1 for the season).

Senior forward Tehilla Teigman led all players with a career-high 31 points, while grabbing 13 rebounds for the double-double. The Houston native blocked two shots and forced a steal for the Maccabees. Sophomore guard Jessie Orgel produced 11 points.

After falling behind 8-4 in the opening quarter, the Maccabees countered with nine straight points to take a five-point lead, with 2:07 remaining. During the rally, Teigman nailed two jumpers, freshman guard Yuval Nitzan hit a pair of free throws, and Orgel drained a 3-point field goal that made it 13-8 in favor of the Maccabees.

The Knights finished the quarter strong by scoring the last eight points to jump out to a 16-13 advantage after 10 minutes of play.

In the opening minute of the second period, Teigman converted a layup to narrow the Macs' deficit to 18-15. Mount Saint Mary answered with a 11-3 run to take a commanding 29-18 hold, with 5:21 remaining in the half, and never looked back.

After outscoring the Maccabees, 24-21, in the third quarter, the Knights pulled away in the fourth by winning the stanza, 28-4.

For the game, Nitzan scored six points, tied a game-high with four assists, and grabbed a pair of rebounds for Yeshiva.

All five Knights' starters reached double-figures in scoring, including 22 points from sophomore forward Annie Keenan. She also grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for the double-double. Senior guard Lyndsay Pace just missed a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Yeshiva will return to the ARC Arena on Saturday evening, for a Skyline matchup against Mount Saint Vincent, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
