In singles play,
Avidan Rudansky won at the third flight, 6-4, 6-2. After splitting the first two sets at No. 4 singles (3-6, 6-3), junior
Alexander Kalb won the third-set tiebreaker, 10-3. Classmate
Yoni Sacknovitz officially clinched the win for the Maccabees by earning the victory at the sixth singles position, 6-2, 6-0.
"It was a very competitive match from start to finish," Yeshiva University head coach
Jon Rubinstein said. "We expected tough competition and (Manhattanville) coach Derek DiFazio did a great job recruiting to create a competitive team in just one season. Our guys now know that when Manhattanville joins the conference next year, we will have quite a formidable threat to our run. That being said, the sweep of doubles made a tough day a little easier and the guys at the bottom really stepped up playing up a spot in the lineup."
Yeshiva will return to the Binghamton Racquet Club on Tuesday, for a non-conference match against Oneonta College, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
