EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Yeshiva University men's tennis team earned a convincing non-conference win over the College of Staten Island, 8-1, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Monday evening. The Maccabees extend their winning streak to three games and advance to 5-3 overall, while the Dolphins start their season 0-1.
Yeshiva went 6-0 in singles competition and took two out of three doubles flights.
Freshman
Aaron Cohen and junior
Lior Brik won the first doubles position, 8-5. Freshman
Amram Wahnon and first-year player
Samuel Edery won their No. 2 doubles contest, 8-4.
Cohen earned a two-set victory at the first singles flight, 6-1, 6-2. Brik cruised to a No. 2 singles win, 6-2, 6-0. Wahnon won the seven-point tiebreaker to clinch the victory at the third singles position. Set scores were 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
Junior
Alexander Kalb was victorious at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman
Jeremy Brody pulled off a competitive victory at No. 5 singles, in the third-set tiebreaker, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 1-0 (10-6). Edery won every game at No. 6 singles.
Yeshiva will battle Division II Queens College, at the Queens College Tennis Center, on Friday at 12:00 p.m.
