JAMAICA, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team earned a convincing non-conference victory over York College (N.Y.), in straight sets, at the York College Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 25-13, 25-15, and 26-24. Yeshiva extends its winning streak to three matches.
Leading the way for the Maccabees (4-6) was junior middle blocker
Yosef Ajami, who produced 11 points thanks to a team-high nine kills, while scoring two service aces. Senior outside hitter
Chaim Aryeh Rubin slammed home seven kills, chipped in on defense with three digs, and scored two service aces. Sophomore middle blocker
Eliyahou Benhamou produced five kills, anchored the defense with seven digs, and nailed three service aces.
The Maccabees trailed by as many as four points in the opening set. The key to the comeback was a 10-0 run to put YU in front, 19-10. Benhamou produced four kills, while Rubin had three successful attacks, during Yeshiva's run. The Cardinals (2-16) could not recover as the Maccabees claimed the opening game, 25-13.
In the second stanza, Rubin scored two service aces to highlight an 8-0 run by YU to put the visiting team up, 10-2. The Blue and White went on another scoring stretch, this time a 5-0 rally, to extend its lead to 19-7. York chipped away and pulled to within seven, at 21-14. However, the Maccabees closed the set strong by outscoring the Cardinals, 4-1, to claim their second set-victory and put the opposition on the brink.
In the late stages of the third set, Ajami's kill gave YU a 21-19 advantage. However, York scored five straight points, capped off by a kill from sophomore opposite hitter Akil Vaughn, to put the home team in front by a score of 24-21. With their backs against the wall, Ajami converted a successful attack that sparked five straight points for Yeshiva, earning the Macs a come-from-behind win in the third set, 26-24, to clinch the match-victory. Yeshiva overcame York's three set-point opportunities to earn its third straight win.

Yeshiva will host St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, in a crucial Skyline Conference matchup at the Max Stern Athletic Center, on Tuesday evening. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
