NEW YORK – It was a special night for the Yeshiva University men's soccer team on Sunday night, as the Maccabees earned an impressive 5-0 victory over the Beavers of City College, at Randall's Island Field 10.
It was Senior Night as graduating seniors
Charles Schaechter,
Sagi Badash, and
Marc Ziarno were honored with a ceremony prior to the match.
Badash earned a shared shutout in net with teammates
Nicolas Dlugach and
Benjamin Brener. Dlugach made five saves, while Brener stopped the only shot he faced.
Ethan Fettaya netted two goals during the contest (first goal during the 44
th and second in the 51
st minute). He finishes the season with 10 goals and three assists.
Jess Rom officially scored the match-winning goal as he opened the scoring by taking a feed from
Alejandro Saul and burying the ball into the net to put Yeshiva up, 1-0 during the 17
th minute. Saul scored YU's second goal of the evening, during the 26
th minute, as he headed the ball into the net off a cross from
Alan Perl.
Rafael Cohen concluded the scoring by tallying his fourth goal of the year during the 82
nd minute.
For the evening, Yeshiva outshot CCNY, 19-10, and had the edge in corner kicks, 5-3.
Ziarno tallied two shots on goal.
The Yeshiva University men's soccer team will return to the field in 2022.
