BROOKLYN – The Yeshiva University women's soccer team concluded the season on a strong note on Sunday afternoon, earning a 6-1 victory over The King's College (N.Y.), at Aviator Field.
It was Senior Day as graduating seniors
Kayla Kamali,
Shani Kravetz,
Ruth Lando,
Ellie Berger,
Elizabeth Pavel, and
Dafna Levine were honored with a ceremony prior to YU's victory.
"The team has worked had all year," Yeshiva University Head Coach
Marc Zharnest said. "We've been knocking at the door. To end with the win speaks to the character and the hard work of these young ladies."
All the goals were scored in the second half. The Lions tallied the first goal, then the Maccabees scored the final six.
Lior Pinchot opened the scoring for Yeshiva by receiving a feed from Levine and burying her ninth goal of the season. She is now the program's all-time single-season leader in points (20) and goals.
Levine officially tallied the match-winning goal on her Senior Day, as Pinchot crossed the ball to the team captain who shot it in to put YU in the lead for good.
Pavel also had a big day during her final collegiate match, as she scored the next two goals. Levine notched her second assist of the afternoon on Pavel's first goal and then
Anjelica Feig provided the helper on the second one.
Lando, another graduating senior who was honored, tallied her first collegiate goal by receiving a feed from Feig and rifling the ball into the back of the net for YU's fifth goal.
Feig capped off YU's scoring by netting her second of the year, assisted by Pavel.
"I'm glad the seniors who helped contribute to five of the six goals were able to go out with the win," Zharnest said. "We look forward to building on their foundation."
In net, Kravetz made three saves to earn the victory on her Senior Day
