NEW YORK – Senior forward Gabriel Leifer, of the No. 4 Yeshiva University men's basketball team, was selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Tuesday morning. Leifer is just the fourth men's basketball player, and seventh overall, in the 24-year history of D3hoops.com to be named to its Team of the Week in four seperate seasons.

Leifer led the Maccabees to a pair of victories this past week. In the win over the United States Merchant Marine Academy, last Wednesday evening, the Lawrence native tallied his third double-double of the season, scoring 20 points and bringing down a game-best 16 rebounds. He also led all players with eight assists and came up big on the defensive end with three steals.

In Yeshiva's key victory over the University of Saint Joseph, in a battle of two teams that made the 2019-20 NCAA Tournament, Leifer just missed a triple-double, netting 13 points, bringing down just as many rebounds, and delivering nine assists. He also had another strong game defensively by blocking four shots.

The Maccabees are riding a 35-game winning streak which leads all of NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III. It's also the third-longest unbeaten streak in Division III men's basketball history. YU is 6-0 to start the 2020-21 campaign and has moved all the way up to No. 4 in the D3hoops.com Men's National Poll.

Yeshiva will battle another reigning NCAA Tournament team, Stevens Institute of Technology, on Monday evening. Tip-off at Canavan Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
