NEW YORK – The Yeshiva University baseball team suffered a pair of Skyline Conference losses to Purchase College, by identical scores of 19-0, at the Purchase College Baseball Field on Friday morning.
In the first contest, the Panthers (11-15, 6-11 Skyline) broke the game open with seven runs in the top half of the second inning to put the game out of reach for the Maccabees (0-10, 0-8 Skyline).
YU was led by sophomore catcher
Shai Rosalimsky as he hit a line drive for a single, worked a walk, and stole a base. Junior first baseman
David Kreisberg laced a double, while senior third baseman
Zachary Baly reached base with a single.
On the mound, junior pitcher Alex Doskoez struck out seven YU batters to earn the complete-game victory.
Sophomore pitcher
Joey Kalish got the start in game two, for Yeshiva, and held Purchase's lineup to zero runs and two hits during the first three innings. However, the Panthers scored multiple runs in each of the final four innings to secure the sweep.
For YU, Kreisberg went 2-for-3, including his second double of the afternoon.
Sophomore pitcher Ryan Castrataro went the distance to win his second game of the season for Purchase.
These two teams will meet again for a doubleheader on Sunday, at the Purchase College Baseball Field, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
