PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's volleyball team concluded Skyline Conference play in 2022 with a loss to St. Joseph's University Long Island, in straight sets, at the Danzi Center on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 25-11, 25-11, and 25-7.
The Golden Eagles (16-11, 8-3 Skyline) led from wire-to-wire in each of the first two sets. Yeshiva (1-14, 0-11 Skyline) had a 1-0 advantage in the third stanza, but St. Joseph's Long Island countered with an 8-1 run to take a commanding hold it would not surrender.
Leading the way for the Maccabees was rookie sensation
Shany Elmaleh who slammed home five kills and tallied 11 digs. Junior
Ashley Botnick led all players with 12 digs, and added three assists with a pair of service aces on the offensive end.
Senior
Gabrielle Kupferman produced four kills and a block, while senior
Tali Miller generated seven assists and nine digs. Junior
Aleesa Elbaum provided five digs, while senior
Emily Zrihen recorded a kill, a block, and three digs. Classmate
Daniella Rothman had a block of her own.
Yeshiva will host Lehman College, in a non-conference match at ARC Arena, on Monday evening. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
