The Maccabees struck first just 14 minutes into the match as sophomore
Leeby Levine took a feed from classmate
Ariel Melnitsky and lined the ball into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal, giving the Blue and White a 1-0 lead. With one minute left to play in the first half, Yeshiva struck again as Feig shot the ball in from 18 yards out for her first goal of the afternoon and padding the Macs' benefit to 2-0. That would be the score at the intermission.
King's (0-5) fought back in the second half as freshman Samantha Kenney sliced YU's lead in half with a goal off a pass from sophomore Rachel Wells, with 20 minutes remaining in the contest. Just five minutes later, King's evened up the game as sophomore Anne Short received a direct kick from midfield, courtesy of senior Lily Easterbrook, and drilled the ball into the back of the cage to tie it up, 2-2, with 15 minutes left.
The Maccabees would not let King's run get to them. With five minutes to go, Feig received the ball from a direct kick by junior
Alayna Higdon and tipped the ball into the net from deep inside the box to allow the Maccabees to regain the lead, 3-2. Feig's second tally ended up being the match winner as Yeshiva hung on to win its first game of the season, 3-2.
In net, junior
Sophie Dubin made three saves for the Maccabees to notch the first win of her collegiate career. Senior Abby Roth stopped 14 shots for King's.
The Yeshiva University women's soccer team will return to the pitch in 2023.
