BROOKLYN – The Yeshiva University men's basketball team dropped its non-conference contest to New York University, 108-67, at Brooklyn Athletic Facility on Thursday evening. The Maccabees drop to 5-4, while the Violets remain unbeaten at 7-0.
Leading the way for the Maccabees senior
Matan Zucker who scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and delivered three assists. Sophomore
Zevi Samet netted 11 points. Rookie
Michael Natkin had a strong game with seven points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
In the early stages of the game, freshman

Dothan Bardichev who converted a layup to give the Maccabees a 7-6 edge, 2:25 into the contest. The Violets responded with a triple from sophomore Zay Freeney to put the home team ahead, 9-7, with 16:58 to go in the half. On the next possession, senior
Adi Markovich converted a layup that allowed the Maccabees to tie the game, at nine points apiece.
From that point on, the Violets took over the game with a 25-6 run to take a commanding 34-15 hold with 7:32 to go in the half.
New York University took a 47-18 lead into the intermission. Yeshiva could not generate a run to get back into the contest during the second half, and NYU went on to earn the victory.
For the Violets, Freeney led all players with 29 points.
Yeshiva will return to the friendly confines of Max Stern Athletic Center, on Saturday night, for a Skyline matchup against Mount Saint Mary College. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
