PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's soccer team had a strong defensive effort on Thursday evening, but it was not enough as the Maccabees fell in their Skyline contest to the Panthers of Purchase College, 4-0, at the Purchase College Soccer Field.
YU held Purchase scoreless until the 24
th minute, as sophomore forward Rebecca Quick headed the ball into the net off a corner kick to give the Panthers a 1-0 advantage. The last three goals were all scored by freshman midfielder Julieth Velasquez during the 29

st minutes of the contest.
For the Maccabees, sophomore goalkeeper
Daniella Bessler made 15 saves. She has now produced double figures in saves in each of her four matches in net this year. Senior midfielder
Anjelica Feig led the Macs' attack with two shots on goal, while rookie midfielder
Ariel Melnitsky rifled a shot on net.
For the Panthers, senior Haley Cascio and freshman Carolyn Hough earned a shared shutout between the posts.
Yeshiva will conclude its season-opening five-match road trip on Sunday with a Skyline contest at St. Joseph's University Long Island. The action begins at 12:00 p.m.
