Men's Basketball Set For Clash Against St. Joseph's Long Island in Skyline Quarterfinal Round

NEW YORK – The No. 3 seed Yeshiva University men's basketball team will battle the sixth-seeded St. Joseph's University Long Island Golden Eagles, in the Quarterfinal round of the Skyline Conference Championships, at Max Stern Athletic Center on Tuesday evening. Tipoff is at 8:00 p.m. The Maccabees aim to capture their third straight Skyline Championship and fourth in the past five seasons.

For Fans: Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and it will be first come, first serve.

Inside the Matchup: Both teams split its two head-to-head meetings this year, with the road team winning each one. St. Joseph's (13-11) was victorious in the first game, 72-63, back on December 10 at Max Stern Athletic Center. Yeshiva (15-9) won the second matchup of the regular season, 74-65, at Danzi Center, on February 8. In fact, the road team has won the last four head-to-head matchups between these two programs.

For the Maccabees: Sophomore guard Zevi Samet is scoring 21.8 points per game this season which leads the Skyline. He drains 4.1 triples per contest which ranks him No. 1 in all of NCAA Division III men's basketball. Classmate Max Zakheim is netting 16.6 points and bringing down 4.1 rebounds per contest. Senior forward Matan Zucker has produced six double-doubles, including a triple-double, this year. Junior guard Oren Betesh leads the country in 3-point field goal percentage (51.8%) and has converted 71 out of 137 attempts from beyond the arc.

For the Golden Eagles: Junior guard Xavier Allen is netting 16.5 points, grabbing 7.7 rebounds, and dishing out 2.5 assists per game. Classmate Spencer Malloy is having a productive season with 15.0 points and 8.6 boards per contest. Sophomore forward Alec Tabada is pouring in 15.1 points and clutching 7.0 rebounds per competition.
