PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Yeshiva University men's volleyball team dropped its conference match to defending Skyline Champion St. Joseph's University Long Island, in straight sets, at Danzi Center on Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-6, 25-8, and 25-11.
The Golden Eagles (14-7, 8-0 Skyline) never trailed at any point in the match.
Leading the way for the Maccabees (4-14, 1-8 Skyline) was senior outside hitter
Benjamin Smillie who slammed home three kills and produced a dig. Classmate
Shmuel Aberman chipped in on defense with three digs, while freshman setter
Eli Waxman had a trio of assists and just as many digs. Senior middle blocker
Eliezer Benjamin produced a kill and a block, while rookie middle blocker
Lavi Friedman scored a service ace. Graduate right side hitter
Michael Stark and junior middle blocker
Jonathan Werta each recorded two digs, with the latter adding an assist.
For St. Joseph's Long Island, sophomore outside hitter Logan Meyer led the way with seven kills, three digs, and an assist.
Yeshiva will battle Skyline rival Sarah Lawrence College, at Campbell Sports Center, on Thursday evening. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
