Samet had a historic rookie campaign for the Yeshiva University men's basketball team as he was also selected as the D3hoops.com Region 3 Rookie of the Year and All-Region third team honoree. The reigning Skyline Rookie of the Year scored 558 points, the most in a single season by a first-year player in school history, on his way to earning a spot on the All-Skyline first team. The Monsey native finished the year No. 1 in all of NCAA Division III men's basketball in 3-point field goals made per game at 3.96. He averaged 21.5 points per contest which topped all Skyline players and was 4.3 points per game higher than the second-place finisher. Samet was named the Skyline Rookie of the Week seven times and was selected as the Skyline Player of the Week as well.
At nationally ranked No. 21 Illinois Wesleyan University, back on November 12, Samet scored a game-high 38 points, while shooting 15-for-29 from the field and draining eight 3-point shots. Samet's 38 points are the fifth most scored in a single game by a rookie in program history. Less than a week later, he netted 40 points, the fourth most by a newcomer in team history, during Yeshiva's Skyline win over St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, back on November 16. In that game, he went 11-for-16 from 3-point range.
