BRONX – The Yeshiva University softball team concluded the 2023 season with a pair of Skyline losses to Mount Saint Mary College, 18-0 and 13-0, at Bahoshy Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Maccabees' (2-29, 0-18 Skyline) lineup got shut down in game one but produced two hits and a walk in the second contest. Rookie third-base player
Rebecca Kalmar and senior shortstop
Danielle Hornstein each reached base with a single. Rookie infielder
Alexis Leibowitz worked a walk.
In game one, the Knights (19-17, 12-6 Skyline) scored eight runs in the opening inning and never looked back. In the circle, junior Bridget Morris and rookie Dana Donnelly combined to pitch a perfect game for Mount Saint Mary, with the former being declared the winning pitcher.
In game two, the visiting team once again scored eight runs in the top of the first inning to take the lead for good. Rookie Grace MacDonald earned the win inside the circle for the Knights by striking out six batters in three hitless and shutout innings pitched.
Prior to the doubleheader, Yeshiva University alumni players played in a game, highlighted by Rachel Mirsky ('16) who will be inducted into the Yeshiva Athletics Hall of Fame on June 15.
