ASTORIA, N.Y. - Competing in their first home game of the season, the Yeshiva women's soccer team were downed by the College at Old Westbury, falling by a score of 6-1 on Sunday, Sep. 3.
Offensively, the Maccabees were helmed by
Yuval Nitzan, with the Israel native tallying four shots and a goal on the day. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Maayan Berkowitz once again proved a brick wall, facing down 20 shots and making four saves.
With the loss, the Macs are now 0-2 on the season, 0-2 in Skyline play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite surrendering four early goals to Old Westbury to kick off the first half, Yeshiva was not a side to be kept down. With nine minutes left to play before the break, Nitzan snagged a perfect pass from Alayna Higdon, hammering it into the back of the net for the teams first score of the season.
- Nitzan's heroics sparked new life in the Maccabee attack, with Yeshiva tallying four shots in the second half. Unfortunately, despite the chances, the Macs could not convert again, ultimately falling to their Skyline rival by a score of 6-1.
