NEWARK, NJ - On a night dedicated to honoring the graduating seniors of the team, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team tied Maritime College, drawing with the Privateers 0-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
The Maccabee defense shone up against their Skyline rival, holding an aggressive Maritime attack to just seven shots on goal.
With the result, the Macs are now 4-4-2, 4-3-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Undoubtedly the team's MVP of the night, Kellian Marty pulled a number of acrobatic saves out of his bag of tricks, guiding the Macs to a tie on the night through sheer force of will. While the Maritime offense outpaced YU's in nearly every metric, The Frenchman withstood a barrage of 20 Privateer shots, racking up seven saves in the process.
- YU were not without their chances to score. In the 38th minute, Ivan Zirlinger tallied Yeshiva's lone shot on goal, only to see it corralled by the Maritime keeper.
- Regardless of the offense's struggles, Yeshiva's defense stepped up, managing to keep the scoreboard blank with only ten men on the field for the final three minutes of play.
